Where do we begin when we decide to write a book?
I know many people who say that it's something they want to do, but rarely do they have the time to do it. It is hard to find that time but eventually, if that book is within you, it will burst out. Maybe in short stories or tales retold to friends. But begin they will and then there's no going back whether you write for personal satisfaction or to eek a meagre living from it.
My first book, Calamity Spain, was a memoir I felt I needed to write to expel the demons. It took years before it was ready to be published so never think it's a five-minute thing! once it was on Amazon I was petrified people would either never read it or would hate it. Now when I look at it, I know I've come a long way. The time is now right for me to revisit that book, definitely re-edit it and also write the sequel. But first, I have all the joys of self-promotion to do for my current non-fiction book that I am immensely proud of, The Activities Handbook. A work for those delivering activities in a care setting. A role that gets little thanks but is vital to enriching the lives of residents.
